Even though they only played four innings, effective pitching and early hitting (and often) the Cubs were able to put away the Cardinals with a final score of 12-5.

This was the final game of the year for the Janezic boys. They're due in Tampa for a mid-year workout with the Tampa Bay D-Rays...look for the lefty/righty combo getting some work from the bullpen.

It was a great year for the CLALL-Cubs! (The MLB Cubs aren't doing so bad either this year.)

Way to go Jacob!!

Way to go Cubbies!

That's the record of the Cubs in extra inning games this year. After fighting back to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth the Marlins were able to score the deciding run in the top of the seventh.

Brandon played well and was named today's MVC.

(We're short on pictures from today's game because we were short on coaches... luckily we had just enough players!)

Whenever it's Chicago vs. New York you know you're in for a treat. While the outcome may have resembled a football score and was not what the Cubs would have liked, the boys did play well. Evan in particular flashed some leather and put on a show in the field. His hitting wasn't bad either.

19-14 Mets over the Cubs. Better luck tomorrow!

After allowing the Braves to score 5 runs in the first inning our Cubbies found themselves in quite a hole. After scoring 1 run in the bottom of the sixth (and final) inning the score was all tied up at 10 apiece. A seventh inning was played but the outcome remained the same. A 10-10 tie between the Cubs and Braves.

Frankie earned game ball as the Most Valuable Cub.

The final score does not tell the story. While the Cubs got off to a quick start they found themselves behind in the fourth inning. A late inning rally put the Cubs ahead for good. A great team effort with a few firsts that made the day extra special for Alec and the rest of the team.

May 3rd Game

It wasn't until late this afternoon on the 5th of May that I found out the game on Saturday had been cancelled. The good news is that we didn't miss a game. The additional news is that the makeup game has been scheduled for May 13th at 6 o'clock at Lippold #4. The updated color-coded schedule appears below (greens are victories and the reds are near misses). We hope to see you out at the park to support our fine players.

An extra inning victory for the Cubs was truly a team effort. One individual effort was particularly special.

Today's Most Valuable Cub showed tremendous growth. How many first year players get on base, drive in runs, and cover home plate to force a D-Ray out? Not many. Just Billy.

The Cubs couldn't hold onto the lead today and suffered a close loss to the Devil Rays. All attempts to rally were thrwarted as we seemed to hit the ball where they were standing. The boys braved the elements and played a solid game. Andrew was selected as today's Most Valuable Cub. I wonder who will get the game ball the next time we play the D-Rays.... which is tomorrow!

Opening Day! Cubs vs Rockies

When the sun came out the Cubs made a mighty comeback and tied the score going into the bottom of the 6th. Alas the defense didn't hold and the Rockies prevailed with a final score of 11 - 10.

The boys had fun and the coaches survived... a.k.a. success.

Click the photo to see some more shots from the game. Hope to see you next Saturday!

Welcome to Spring Training

Be sure to check back after each game for photos of the day's events. In the mean time be sure to share this web address with your family and friends so they can keep up with the action. This blog is listed as unsearchable so if you don't share it they won't know it exists.

The photos will be hosted at a Flickr account where you'll be able to download the original photo for your own use. I've done this for the past couple of years for my sons teams and it's been very well received. I hope that you enjoy the site and photos.
